# When your first numbers arrive Updated: 1 Oct 2026. Source: https://www.botsay.ai/docs/first-numbers Your first reading goes out with the next daily update after you finish setup, at 05:30 UTC. Until then **This week** shows a waiting card, and your first week is complete the day after the reading, once the two Google engines have answered. ## When does my first reading happen? Your first reading goes out with the next daily update, which happens once a day at 05:30 UTC. There is no button to press and no need to wait for a particular day. If you finish setup after 05:30 UTC, the reading goes out with the following day's update. After that, a reading is taken every week at 05:30 UTC, whatever your plan, and Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode answers arrive the next day. **Setup**, **Readings** shows your schedule, and [When readings happen](https://www.botsay.ai/docs/readings-and-schedule) explains that screen. ## What does This week show before my first reading? **This week** shows one card headed **Your first reading is not in yet**, with a line such as "Fills on" and the date of the next update. The card also says "Once your questions have been asked, this page says whether anything changed." **Standing** and **Evidence** show the same title and a short note, and **Setup**, **Readings** shows **Your first week of readings**. There is no separate screen to wait on: these cards are all there is until the reading arrives. ## Why has my first reading not started? A reading needs a brand marked as yours and at least one question, and when one is missing the screen says which instead of giving a date. **Setup**, **Readings** and the closing setup screen show messages such as "We do not know which brand is yours." and "You have not added a question yet." A third message, "No AI engine is turned on.", is not expected, because all six engines are on for every paying workspace. Add the missing piece in **Setup**, and the reading goes out with the next daily update. [Set up your workspace](https://www.botsay.ai/docs/set-up-your-workspace) has the steps. ## What do I see when my first reading arrives? **This week** shows your **Mention rate** as the lead figure, **Where you stand** among the brands read, and the other four measures. The top line says it is your first reading and how many answers were read. Once every engine has finished, the headline reads, for example: "Your first reading is in. Tessera was named in 38 of 120 answers." A box headed **Nothing to compare yet** explains that changes need two readings. The next reading is the first one BotSay can compare against. From then on **This week** says what changed. ## When is my first week complete? Your first week is complete the day after the reading, when the two Google engines have answered. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude answer in the update that asks them, and the two Google engines answer in the next one. Until the Google engines answer, **This week** shows a headline such as "Four of six engines are in." Figures that can still move carry a **Provisional** mark, and a week still being read shows no likely range. When the Google engines have answered, the marks go and the range appears. [Which AI engines BotSay asks](https://www.botsay.ai/docs/engines) explains why they arrive later. ## How should I read my first figures? Treat your first reading as the starting point: it shows where you stand, not whether you moved, because there is nothing earlier to compare with. Once the week is complete, **Mention rate** shows a likely range and the number of answers behind it. The next reading is measured against these starting figures. [Why a number is blank or shows a range](https://www.botsay.ai/docs/blanks-and-ranges) explains likely ranges and the other states you may see. Tessera, Novaly, Pinefield, Kestrel Pay and Orbita are invented brands, used here as examples.
