Which AI engines BotSay asks

SetupUpdated

BotSay asks your questions on six AI engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. All six are on for every plan, and Setup, Engines lists the ones being asked.

What are the six engines? #

Each engine answers differently, so BotSay counts them apart.

Every answer comes from an engine's own service, or from licensed search data for the two Google surfaces. BotSay never copies what a screen shows an ordinary user.

Can I choose which engines BotSay asks? #

All six engines are on for every plan, with no switch to turn one off. Every reading asks every question on every engine, so any two readings compare like with like. When readings happen explains what a reading is.

Why do the two Google engines arrive a day later? #

Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode are collected through licensed search data, which returns about a day behind the other four engines. A reading is taken every week at 05:30 UTC, and the two Google engines arrive the next day.

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude answer in the same update that asks them. Until the Google answers arrive, figures that can still move carry a Provisional mark. When your first numbers arrive shows how this looks on your first reading.

What does Setup, Engines show? #

It shows the engines BotSay asks, and nothing else: no model names and no settings. The page is titled Engines, with the line "Which AI engines we ask. A change counts from the next reading." A table captioned Engines we ask has one row for each engine, under the heading Engine.

On the Setup page, the Engines card gives a count such as "6 of 6" and, when all are on, the sentence "Every engine you can use is on." Its link is Manage engines.

What does Turn on do? #

Turn on restarts asking an engine that was left off. If an engine is ever off, its row shows a Turn on link. It opens a question, for example "Start asking Perplexity?", that names the date of the next reading and says that from then on every figure includes that engine's answers.

It adds "Past weeks are not rewritten." Choose Start asking followed by the engine's name, or Not now. An engine that is already being asked has no link, and there is no matching Turn off.

Who can see the Engines page? #

Admins only. A member who opens it sees "This page is for workspace admins." and, where BotSay can find them, the names of the workspace's admins. What admins and members can do covers roles.

Why does an engine sometimes answer fewer questions? #

Google AI Overviews does not show a summary for every search, so a reading can hold fewer answers from it. Setup, Readings says so in these words: "it does not show a summary for every search."

That is normal for it. When readings happen lists the other reasons a week can be short.
